About Big Island Jet Center
Estimated completion Q3/Q4 2024
The Big Island Jet Center (BIJC) is developing a fixed based operation on Kailua Kona, Hawaii, at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA). The project has an estimated completion date of Q3/Q4 2024. BIJC was established in 2018, with a mission to develop the last available tract of airside land into the island’s first luxury Fixed Based Operation (FBO).
In April 2018, after years of exhaustive work by its founding partners, BIJC was successful securing a lease with the State of Hawaii for 15.9 acres or 690,000 square feet at the south end of KOA. The parcel has a lease term of 35 years, and specifically permits the development and operation of an FBO, as well as a variety of other aeronautical facilities.
BIJC will offer its exclusive clientele a +/-7,500 sq. ft. luxury executive terminal with a variety of passenger and crew amenities which will include :
- Customer service area with concierge ammenties
- Crew areas equipped with computer terminals for flight planning
- Passenger seating area, luggage handling and security
- Finely appointed restrooms
- Flight kitchen
- Food storage facility
- Conference rooms
- Executive office space
In addition to the executive terminal, BIJC is constructing a 50,000-gallon private fuel storage facility, and an expansive, exclusive-use aircraft parking apron totaling 9.5 acres or 415,000 square feet. This private ramp will be capable of accommodating all of the current general aviation aircraft that frequent the Kona Airport, including the B-737 and A-319. The site also offers the capacity to accommodate two 36,000 sq. foot hangars for secure, covered storage of high-value aircraft, and this second phase will likely begin construction in early 2024.
