About Big Island Jet Center

Commencing Operations in November 2023

The Big Island Jet Center (BIJC) FBO is currently under development at the south end of the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA) in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Project development started in 2018 when a 35-year lease was secured on the last readily developable tract of airside land at the Airport.

Big Island Jet Center is projected to be operational in November 2023 with the initial development reflecting approximately 9.5 acres of private ramp/apron and a 50,000-gallon Jet fuel storage facility. This private ramp will be capable of accommodating the largest general aviation aircraft that frequents the Airport and will more than double the general aviation ramp capacity at KOA. Initial operations will commence via a well-appointed temporary terminal structure, to be followed by a state-of-the-art, first-class executive terminal building completed in 2024. The future executive terminal will encompass +/- 7,500 square feet with a variety of passenger and crew amenities to include:

  • Customer service area with concierge amenities
  • A crew area equipped with computer terminals for flight planning
  • Passenger seating area, luggage handling and security
  • Finely appointed restrooms
  • Flight kitchen with food storage facility
  • Conference room
  • Executive office space

In addition, future development of the BIJC project will include up to 72,000 square feet of executive hangar space capable of handling virtually all of today’s general aviation fleet, as well as accompanying private office areas.
